Abstract

The Hammett acidity function, H0, is reported for 3 and 6 molal mixtures of perchloric, hydrochloric, and nitric acids with their lithium and sodium salts. As expected theoretically, perchlorate mixtures containing lithium exhibit a much closer proportionality between h0 and acid content than those containing sodium; but the opposite is true of the chloride and nitrate systems.
