Abstract

Abstract: H-ZSM-5/GO composites were prepared for the catalytic hydrolysis of cellulose in ionic liquids of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole chloride salt to obtain sugars. The materials catalyzed the hydrolysis of cellulose to produce total reducing sugar (TRS), super to ZSM-5 or graphene oxide (GO). The results suggested that the acidic sites of both materials and the mesopores of the composites enhanced the catalytic performance. With the optimized reaction conditions (e.g., ratio of catalyst to cellulose, temperature, reaction time), 87.8% yield of TRS was obtained.
