Abstract

In recent years, the multimedia streaming technology on the Internet has matured, since the enhancement of the network speed and the computing power of handheld devices, in order to provide the rising demand of video viewing on the go, an effective division of computing resource has become an important issue. With the increasing number of nodes which can provide computing resource and streaming capacity, which composes a big media cloud. With the concept of media cloud, how to split the demand of watching movie into the nodes within the media cloud is a key concept. This article investigate the issues. This article implements a H.264/SVC based streaming system in the media cloud, by using H.264/SVC scalability architecture, which includes temporal, spatial and quality scalability, by measuring the bandwidth of specific streaming path on the network which provide the most suitable quality videos for the client. Also, to investigate the balance of computing resource and implement inter-node communication mechanism, by measuring the bandwidth between streaming node and client and by computing resource of the streaming node, to choose the best node as a streaming node, also determine the most suitable streaming path, in order to provide the best quality of movie for the current bandwidth.
