Abstract

The nuclear g-factor of the 530 ns 206 keV state in Re 187 has been measured by the differential angular correlation method. Its value is 1.046±0.03. The source was a water solution of neutron irradiated Li 2WO 4. The measurements of the time differential anisotropy of the 479-72 keV γ-γ cascade were made over a 1.3 μs time interval without observable attenuation of the angular correlation. The average quadrupole interaction frequency ν Q is less than 180 MHz assuming a liquid correlation time of 10 −11 sec. Appreciable attenuation of the differential anisotropy was observed for sources prepared from irradiated tungsten metal dissolved. in a HF+HNO 3 acid mixture. The angular correlations of the 552-134 keV and 72–134 keV γ-γ cascades in Re 187 have been found to be isotropic. A measurement of the half-life of the 206 keV state yielded a value of 557±12 ns.
