Abstract

Summary form only given. A gyrokinetic analysis is presented to the electron-beam misalignment effect on cylindrical-cavity gyrotron oscillators and is also examined by employing a 335 GHz gyrotron experiment reported recently. The gyrokinetic result is in acceptable agreement with the experimental observation. The influences of the operating magnetic field and the electron-beam energy on the starting current are discussed.
