By common usage gynecomastia is composed of true and false types.2True gynecomastia consists of hyperplasia of the rudimentary mammary ducts and of the periductal connective tissue. False gynecomastia is a proliferation of fatty and subcutaneous tissues. This paper pertains only to true gynecomastia and purposely is not titled "Gynecomastia due to severe starvation" the reasons for which will appear later.II.
