Abstract
This article talks about Johannes Gutenberg's printing press and the socio-cultural history that followed the invention. I will try to talk about the magnanimous effects that Gutenberg's invention of the printing press in the form of the movable type had on the world and how it helped in the erasure of elitism and brought about a significant shift in the power structure by creating various forms of reading cultures. The article thus tries to look at the influence that the circulation of printed material has on its readers and on the society in general.
