Abstract

Pregnancy predisposes women to develop severe sepsis. However, the mechanisms regulating this remain unclear. In this issue of Immunity, Chen etal. describe the critical role of gut dysbiosis during pregnancy in driving excessive macrophage pyroptosis, increasing susceptibility to sepsis.
