Abstract

There is presented the review of modern data on connection of intestinal microbiota with the problem of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children. Disorders in intestinal microecology are observed in approximately 80% of cases in ASD children. ASD children show certain features of the changes in intestinal microbiota as follows: a decrease in the number of indigenous normobiota of such genera as Bifidobacterium and Eubacterium, a decrease in the number of glycolytic bacteria of the genera Prevotella and Coprococcus, an increase in conditionally pathogenic and pathogenic species of Clostridium spp. and Clostridium cluster groups I, XI, XVIII, an increase in the number of Candida fungi is observed. Nonabsorbable antibiotics and antimycotic drugs, together with the ketogenic diet, the elimination diet, and the subsequent pro and prebiotic therapy, were established to change the microbial community, which helps to improve the behavior of ASD children.
