Abstract
The dynamic response of hyperbolic cooling towers on soils are calculated in this paper based on a dynamic region-wise variational principle and the modes of free vibrations reported elsewhere by the authors. The spectrum method of random vibration theory and wind load data from full-scale measurements are used. Gust factors for hyperbolic cooling towers and footings on different soils are presented.
