Abstract

Molly Mason Jones, Professor of Psychology at Scripps College, has written a child guidance book drawing upon her years of experience in nursery school education, child study, parent counseling, and her own home as a mother of two. With this background, she describes a logical and consistent approach to child rearing, such that parents and offspring live in a more harmonious and satisfying atmosphere. Her pervading theme is adequate (but subtle, from the child's viewpoint) guidance of the child with the important addition that "children themselves benefit when reasonable satisfactions for parents are woven into life.
