Abstract
Many data adjustment methods have been proposed in the microarray literature prior to detailed analyses such as class comparison, class discovery or class prediction. But guidelines have not yet been proposed for ensuring that the choice of an adjustment method is appropriate for the type of study envisaged. The aim of that article is to present guidelines for the choice of data pre-processing methods, for each of the three main areas of microarray applications: class comparison, class discovery and class prediction.
