Abstract

Ultrasound-guided puncture is an exam that allows delineation of the lesion margins and extent for better diagnosis and treatment proposal. A 15-year-old boy presented with a painless swelling with 12 months of evolution and progressive enlargement. He reported no history of trauma or recent upper respiratory tract infections, but reported a history of pimple in the region stricken by lesion. On physical examination, a nodular lesion was observed in the right submandibular region, soft in consistency, lobular with ill-defined margins, painless, and freely mobile. An ultrasound-guided aspiration puncture was performed. The punctured material was submitted to the Liquid-based cytology and a diagnosis of lymphatic malformation was made.
