Abstract

The author has attempted the ambitious project of outlining the various uses of steroid therapy in the full range of human diseases. In this process, he has also described succinctly the diseases to be treated with steroid. In addition, Part I of the book discusses the structure and synthesis of steroids, their physiology, the methods for their measurement, and tests of steroid function. It is evident that, covering all this material within the limits of a 200 page book, is a difficult and probably impossible task. In any event, the present attempt cannot be considered as a full success.
