Abstract

A new digger-wasp genus, Guichardus (Hymenoptera, Crabonidae, Oxybelini), is described. It includes three species: G. assyriacus sp. n. from Iraq, G. dromedarius (Guichard, 1991) from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and G. jordanicus sp. n. from Jordan. The new genus differs in the absence of psammophores and tarsal rakes, the posteriorly concave scutellum, with developed posterolateral lobes in both sexes, separated plate of the clypeal medial lobe in females, concave ventrally scapes, and force coxa in males. A previously unknown female of G. dromedarius is also described. The generic diagnosis, descriptions of the new species, and a key for their identification are given.
