Abstract

This is the second part of a double issue on Chinese women and employment in the "reform period." The first issue provided an overview of contemporary women's employment in China through a series of general articles covering the period between 1980 and the early 1990s. This second issue goes on to look at specific employment problems that affect women from particular age or social groups. Translations were selected from a mixture of academic studies and less formal articles that reflect the more personal side of some women's employment issues.
