Abstract

The idea for this special issue of The Leading Edge came from a symposium last October in Houston, on technology development for fractured tight gas reservoirs. The symposium, cohosted by the Morgantown Energy Technology Center of the Department of Energy, the Geophysical Society of Houston, and Amoco Production Company, generated a good deal of interest among the earth sciences community. Presentations were made on the six research projects funded by the DOE/METC, under the direction of Royal Watts. Several poster papers on geophysical investigation of fractured reservoirs were given by Amoco Production, which has long been interested in naturally‐fractured reservoirs.
