Click to increase image sizeClick to decrease image size Additional informationNotes on contributorsV R SinghDr V R Singh obtained his BE (Electrical Engineering) from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjabi University, Patiala in 1968 and PhD from IIT Delhi in 1974, in transducer instrumentation. He has twenty two years of research-experience in biomedical engineering, transducer/sensor technology and electronic instrumentation. Currently, he is actively engaged in research in sensors, transducers, digital electronics, instrumentation and biomedical ultrasonics.Dr Singh is a recipient of INSA Young Scientist Award (1974), NPL Merit Award (1973); TIET Distinguished Alumni Award (1983); ICMR Young Scientist Award (1984); Certificate of Appreciation/Honour by Japan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (1985); AFSUMB (Asian Fed Soc for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) Medal (1987) and the Institution of Engineers (India) Prize for Best Research Paper (1988–89). He has more than 150 research contributions and a dozen of patents to his credit. He is the Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, Senior Member of IEEE (USA), Life Fellow of Ultrasonic Society of India, Life Fellow of Acoustical Society of India, Fellow of Metrological Society of India, Life Member of Biomedical Engg Society of India and also of National Foundation of Indian Engineers, besides membership and holding positions in other academic societies. He is the General Secretary and Life Member of Transducer Society of India and has been General Secretary of Ultrasonic Society of India (1979–89) and the councillor of AFSUMB, Japan (1985–89). He is the Representative/ Expert Panel Member of WFUMB (World Fed Ult Med Biolog) Committee on Ultrasound Safety and Standardisation (Australia). He has delivered invited lectures and chaired scientific/technical sessions during International/World Congress like WFUMB Cong IV at Sydney (Australia) in July 1985; AFSUMB-I Congress, at Tokyo (Japan) in June, 1987, IMEK. O-XI/JSA-88, Houston (USA) Oct 1988 and 10th International Congress of IEEE-EMBS at New Orleans (USA) in Nov 1988.At present he is heading the Instrumentation Cell as Scientist-in-Cnarge at National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. He has also been an Adjunct Professor to Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Punjabi University), Patiala, and is on visiting Faculty of Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi Institute of Technology of University of Delhi and Board of Technical Education.
