Abstract

It has been a pleasure to reconnect with our colleagues from the Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (CSGF) program while organizing this special issue. For many of us, joining this community has played an essential role in our careers taking shape as they have. This issue recognizes the program’s 30th year, a milestone in any program, but especially for a field defined by exponential growth, convergence between communities, and a continual evolution of pressing scientific challenges. The first of the six articles is coauthored by three of the founding leaders of CSGF, and the remaining articles are written by CSGF alumni. This special issue had an invited call for proposals, and we would like to thank the authors and referees for working with the Guest Editors on tight timelines. Our referees were: Aric Hagberg, Ashlee Ford-Versypt, Daniel Martin, David Brown, Jeffery Hittinger, Judy Hill, and Roscoe Giles. The articles comprising the special issues are briefly summarized here.
