Abstract

From the end of the XIth century, the formation of knightly ethics imposes gradually a model of warrior comportment, less barbarous than before and based on the respect of deontological code, on interest, and on ethical and religious considerations in a lesser degree. This model spreads through the Christian Europe, but it concerns only the aristocratical society. Behind this general observation, the study of warrior comportment in battles, sieges, razzias and tournaments lets see many interesting variants for the historian of ideas and society.
