Abstract

As a result of the cancelling of military programs and previously planned rates of growth of the nuclear power industry, the production of nuclear materials in all links of the fuel cycle has decreased by a factor 5-10. The number of personnel at plants has remained almost at the previous level because there are no training positions. Old commercial reactors have been abandoned at three plants where weapons plutonium was reprocessed. Correspondingly, the production of fuel elements (standard units) of natural uranium has decreased, and this has influenced the volume of production at two plants of the concern {open_quotes}TvEl{close_quotes} and the volume of reprocessing of irradiated natural uranium at three plants. This article is an abstract of the entire report.
