Abstract

The paper introduces the conceptual framework of a Distributed Sensor Network for the monitoring of the wooded areas under risk of fire in the so-called “Vesuvius’ red zone”. Main goal is the determination of the OPtimal Evacuation Route for Animals (OPERA) in case of fire, for all the animal species living in the Mount Vesuvius’ surrounding areas, under the perspective of the Disaster Risk Management principles.
