Abstract
The aqueous extract of the leaves of Cynara sibthorpiana afforded a terpenoid alcohol vomifoliol (= blumenol A) and three guaianolide sesquiterpene lactones, namely the cytotoxic zaluzanin-C, solstitalin and a new guaianolide named as sibthorpine.
