Abstract

The last two decades of the twenty century were characterized by large and big changes. In the 80’s decade many countries were walking from a closed-economy to an opened-economy in a relatively short time space. Competition was intensified heightened because of internal markets reductions as well as the presence of foreign firms around the country. Running companies faced a lot of troubles to remain in operation; many disappeared; others must do very big organizational changes in order to adapt them to the new environmental conditions. This article deals with the main strategies launched by large companies, which belong to national private capital groups (GCPN, Spanish initials) in Mexico, in the 80’s and 90’s decades to face up the challenges of an opened-economy, integrating itself to the global process.
