Abstract
The following transport agents for growing ZnO single crystals, in a closed system, were evaluated thermodynamically and experimentally: HCl, NH 3, NH 4Cl, H 2, Cl 2 and HgCl 2. As predicted, NH 3, NH 4Cl, and HgCl 2 were found to be the most efficient. Extremely pure single crystals of ZnO, 2 mm in diameter and 8 mm long, have been grown.
