Abstract

Lithium tantalate (LiTaO 3) crystals were grown from molybdenum crucibles by the Czochralski and Stepanov techniques. Physical constants of the LiTaO 3 melt, such as density and capillary constant, were determined. The quality of the crystals grown from molybdenum crucibles was practically identical to that for iridium crucible material.
