Abstract

The growth of CdS single crystals by closed-tube hydrogen chemical transport in the vapour phase is investigated, in order to state to what degree the temperature profiles of the furnaces can be lowered, still maintaining the growth of large single crystals. In the range of temperature profiles considered, single crystal growth could be maintained when the temperature profile was reduced and the pulling rate of the growing system with respect to the temperature profile was also reduced accordingly.
