Abstract

YBa 2Cu 3O 7-x superconducting thin films with a-axis perpendicular to the substrate were grown on both LaSrGaO 4 (100) and SrTiO 3 (100) single crystals by off-axis rf sputtering and their properties were compared. The film grown at 740 °C on a self-template layer grown in situ at 650 °C on LaSrGaO 4 (100) substrate showed almost 100% a-axis orientation and had T c (zero) of 83 K. Anisotropy of the resistivity was measured and correlated with the in-plane orientation observed by polarized Raman spectroscopy.
