Abstract
About 1900 Pacific silver fir (Abies amabilis (Doug.) Forbes) seedlings per ha were planted in the Black Hills, western Washington, on an area clearcut and burned. Twenty-five years after planting the plantation had 1393 trees per ha 2.5 cm dbh and larger. The largest dbh class was 17.5 cm. Average height ranged from 2.4 m for trees of the 2.5 cm dbh clas to 9.1 m for trees of the 17.5 cm dbh class. Average annual diameter and height growth for trees 12.5 cm dbh and larger during the 5-year period 21 years to 25 years after planting was 1.1 cm and 0.62 m, respectively. Diameter and height growth of each dbh class has increased during the recent 5-year period compared with the previous 5-year period.
