Abstract

ABSTRACT Injection of cortisol into one-day old cockerels produced thymus atrophy and involution of bursa of Fabricius. The response was satisfactory using two daily injections. This method was used to evaluate the relative potency of various synthetic cortical hormones. Paramethasone was found to be 115 times more potent than cortisol. Fluocinolone acetonide and flumethasone were more than 1000 times as active as the primary standard.
