Abstract

Physical–chemical conditions of synthesis are found and a set of Ca3Ga2Ge3O12 single crystals with the concentration of Nd3+ ions from 0.05 till 16 at% for the experiments on the stimulated emission generation is grown by the Czochralski technique using platinum crucibles. The formation of macrodefects as a function of crystal growth conditions is investigated. On the base of detailed concentration and temperature investigations of the luminescence and stimulated emission in the 4F3/2 4I11/2 and 4F3/2 4I13/ 2 channels the formation of activator centres of Nd3+ in Ca3Ga2Ge3O12 is analyzed. The way to improve the generation parameters of Nd3+ ions by coactivating Cr3+ sensitizer ions into Ca3Ga2Ge3O12 is discussed. The possibility to excite stimulated emission also for the chromium ions in the red region of the spectrum is noted. The perspective of using multication garnets with heterovalent isomorphism to produce disorder laser garnet crystals doped with Nd3+ ions is pointed out. [Russian text Ignored]
