Abstract

Tm3+-doped La2CaB10O19 (Tm3+: LCB) crystal with dimensions of 40 × 16 × 14 mm3 has been grown by the top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) method. At room temperature, the absorption spectrum in the wavelength range of 190–2000 nm and emission spectrum under the excitation of 466 nm were measured by using (110) oriented crystal wafers. According to the Judd−Ofelt theory, the fundamental spectral parameters were calculated, including phenomenological intensity parameters Ωt(t = 2, 4, 6), transition probability A, emission cross sections σem, fluorescence branch ratio βc, and radioactive lifetime τrad. Tm3+: LCB crystal may be a potential near infrared laser material under the excitation of 466 nm which is closed to the wavelength of GaN laser diode.
