Abstract

2-Aminopyridinium potassium chloride glycine (2-APKCG), a semi-organic nonlinear optical single crystal, was grown by slow evaporation technique at a pH value of 6.0. FTIR and NMR studies confirm the presence of functional groups in the grown crystal. UV–visible NIR spectral study reveals the transmission band from 200nm to 900nm with lower cutoff wave length at 240nm. Powder XRD study confirms the crystalline nature of the grown crystal. Single crystal XRD study shows that the grown crystal possesses hexagonal structure a=7.09Å; b=7.09; c=5.52Å; α=β=90°; and γ=120°. The SHG efficiency of the grown crystal was confirmed by the Kurtz powder technique.
