Abstract

Strickland (1933, 1939) studied the effects of various natural foods on the survival of larvae of Ctenicera aeripennis destructor (Brown), and Evans and Gough (1942) investigated some of the factors that influence growth of larvae of Agriotes spp. Kosmachevskii (1950) reported a diapause condition when larvae of Agriotes meticulosus Cand. were reared in washed sand in test tubes with germinating wheat seeds for food. This is a report on the growth and the feeding behavior of larvae of C. a. destructor reared on carrot slices and seeds of wheat, flax, barley, rye, and alfalfa provided individually and in combination.
