Abstract

Single crystals of Pure (CCO) and Magnesium Doped Copper Cadmium Oxalate (MDCCO) having size of 0.30×0.15×0.10 were grown by the single-diffusion reaction method in the silica gel medium at 23°C temperature. Optimum condition for growth was established by varying gel parameters such as specific gravity, pH, gel ageing, concentration of the reactants and ratio of supernatant solutions of Cadmium chloride and Cupric chloride. The crystals were characterized by using the methods such as Powder X-Ray Diffraction (PXRD), Fourier-Transform Infrared (FT-IR)Spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectral studies, Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (SEM-EDAX), Thermo Gravimetric Analysis /Differential thermal analysis (TGA / DTA).
