Abstract

Hexagonal ferrites are of interest for microwave and millimeter-wave devices. We have grown single crystal layers of hexagonal ferrites on non-magnetic spinel substrates using the isothermal dipping method of liquid phase epitaxy. Ferrimagnetic resonance spectra of M-type layers at 35 GHz exhibited half power linewidths as narrow as 26 Oe. Resonant absorption measurements at frequencies up to 60 GHz showed linear tuning characteristics. For W-type hexagonal ferrites, the narrowest linewidth observed was 42 Oe.
