Abstract

Ethylenethiourea cadmium nickel chloride mixed crystal (ETUCNC) has been grown from aqueous medium at room temperature by slow evaporation solution growth technique. The vibrational patterns in FT-IR are used for identifying the material and the thermal analysis by TG/DTA indicates the stability of the mixed crystal and no decomposition takes place up to the melting point. The lattice parameters of the as-grown crystals were obtained by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and it belongs to the monoclinic system. The structure and the crystallinity of the material are further confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The surface morphological changes of the mixed crystal are studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and analyzed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy quantitatively.
