Abstract
The growth of mixed crystals of barium lead borate using slow evaporation technique is reported for the first time. Good quality crystals up to a size of 15 mm×10 mm×1 mm are obtained. These crystals show good second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency. Single crystals of barium lead borate is a promising nonlinear optical crystal which can be possibly used for fabrication of photonic devices. The grown crystals are characterized by employing UV–VIS spectrum, powder XRD, AAS and microhardness measurements. SHG efficiency is measured from Kurtz's powder technique using Nd-YAG laser.
