Abstract

A general construction of grouped complementary (GC) codes for multicarrier CDMA systems is proposed. The construction is based on perfect codes which have ideal periodic autocorrelation function. Different from traditional complementary codes, the constructed GC codes are divided into multiple code groups. The codes in the same group have ideal correlation properties and those from the different groups have almost ideal correlation properties. The system bit error rate (BER) performance is presented in comparison with complete complementary (CC) codes and results show that the proposed GC codes can support much more users than CC codes while the good performance is approximately maintained.
