Abstract

ABSTRACTThis article examines the growing concerns in the literature that traditional group work education in social work is not providing the foundational knowledge, skills, evidence-based practice, professional uses of self, and adherence to practice standards necessary for effective group practice. An exploration of the best available evidence on group work training provides a framework for competency-based learning that has implications for field education.
