Abstract

A model of three-wave parametric interaction is presented for biaxial crystals, in both type I and type II noncollinear phase-matching (PM) conditions, in which the group velocities of the interacting pulses are suitably linked to each other. To satisfy group-velocity (GV) matching the tunable parametric generation of femtosecond pulses must use noncollinear PM. We consider three conditions of GV matching of femtosecond pulses. We also calculate GV mismatching and obtain the optimum operation condition.
