Abstract

AbstractA method for group theoretical description of two‐electron wave functions, based on the Mackey theorem on symmetrized squares, is developed. It is shown that the Mackey theorem makes it possible to construct basis functions and to label repeating representations. The technique is applied to molecules of Oh symmetry and to space groups with point groups D2h and D4h. Application of the results to high‐Tc superconductors is discussed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2004
