Abstract
The goal of the research is to:- Identifying the level of executive functions for middle school students aged 13-14 years by studying physical education- Knowing about group play and its impact on improving some executive functions for middle school students aged 13-14 years by studying physical educationAs for the research hypotheses, they were:- There are statistically significant differences in the level of executive functions of the experimental and control groups and in favor of the post-test of the experimental group.- There are statistically significant differences of group play and its effect on improving some executive functions in the post test and for the benefit of the experimental group.As for the research community, it consists of students of the first intermediate stage, aged (13-14), and their total is (310) pupils. As for the research sample, it included 20 pupils, who were divided into two experimental groups10 pupils and a control group 10pupils from the Taliaa Intermediate School for Boys.The most important conclusions that were reached are:1- Group play has a direct effect on the development of executive functions for students for the experimental group at the expense of the control group.2- The group games showed improvement in the functions of (planning, Inhibition, shifting) for pupils in the physical education lesson3- Group games have an effect on spreading the spirit of competition and increasing motivation among students.Accordingly, I recommend several recommendations:1- The necessity of adopting group games in the physical education lesson2- Emphasis on the interest in studying physical education through the use of group sports activities to encourage and motivate students to actively participate in sports performance3- Paying attention to executive capabilities and functions and working to find the means and programs to develop them because they are considered the basis for excellence in sports performance in addition to scientific and academic success
