Abstract

ABSTRACT A survey of university counseling centers regarding treatment for Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACAs) was conducted. One-half of the counseling centers surveyed reported that they conducted ACA groups on their campuses on a regular basis. Additionally, group leaders reported overwhelming support for Woititz's (1983) personality characteristics as appropriately descriptive of college-aged ACAs. These results are discussed in light of growing empirical evidence that Woititz's characteristics are not particularly descriptive of any group of persons.
