Abstract

This paper discusses noise-control criteria by vehicle classification. Vehicle operations are related to noise sources and their effect on the auditor. Procedures in design of quieter components, i.e., engine intake and exhaust systems, body suspensions, new tire treads, etc., are reviewed. Test techniques and performance data are presented for typical noise sources at various operating conditions.
