Abstract
ABSTRACTPartial differential equations may be used to describe a large number of problems in ground‐water hydrology. Without a solution, however, these equations are of little value. Only a simplified subset of the general equations can be solved by analytical means, and these often describe idealized situations that are limited in application. Numerical solution of these equations using high speed digital computers offers a logical alternative.
