Abstract

The ground water inflow of nutrients to a lake were investigated over 8 years in a catchment with differently utilized areas (a peat bog, an agricultural, a forest and a forest-recreational area). The effect of nutrient export from the catchments on the lake water chemistry was studied. The biggest loading of nutrients (N,P) to the lake was in the cold period and the main source of nutrients was the agricultural area. The chemistry of the lake water did not change greatly during the year. Only a slow increase in organic nitrogen and phosphorus was observed in this study.
