Abstract

The transmission of vibrations in the near field of the surface of the ground, due to an harmonic load acting on a rectangle, is investigated theoretically. The interior of the ground is modelled as an elastic half-space. The solution is obtained by using the double Fourier transform, with numerical integration of the inverse double Fourier transform. The attenuation of the amplitude is presented as a function of distance from the applied force for various frequencies. Other results show the direct receptance at the load for various masses placed there, and also the effect on vibration of placing a mass between the load and point of measurement.
