Abstract

In light of current rapid developments in the stream of nanosatellites and launch of hundreds of these in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), the functionality of ground station scatters the needs of diverse applications in satisfying the requirements. A ground station control is essential for communicating with satellites to facilitate receiving telemetry and sending commands. Besides its usage for satellite tracking, the ground station will be a significant part in providing practical training for university students in anticipation of future small satellite operations. Studies involved with the VHF and UHF band ground station setup involves satellite orbit parameters, satellite tracking with radio transceiver through a software, position resolution of satellite passes, payload testability using High Altitude Ballooning with the experimentation process are summarized in this paper.
