Abstract

Ground states of the t- J model with four holes in a planar 4 x 4 lattice are studied by the method of exact diagonalization. We find that the spin, momentum and rotational symmetry of the ground state change with J/ t. The momentum distribution function indicates on the existence of Fermi liquid-like behaviour in the intermediate J/ t regime. Dynamical spin correlation functions show a pronounced one-magnon peak at larger J/ t, while the magnon response disappears at small J/ t. s-wave pairing correlations are enhanced relative to the two hole case and become even larger than the d-wave correlations at small J/ t.
